Reason for blocked emails

Hi All,

When a campaign is been scheduled or set on timer in Marketo, we can see below message in the Smart List.

Smart List Status:  Set to affect around 455 existing leads (may change over time)

Around 5 leads are blocked from emails

My question is, is there a way to know the reason of why those leads/ emails were blocked?

Regards,

Sri

Hello Sri! (Educator Emails)

If you click on the number of blocked leads it will pop up a list for you. If you look at the smart list for that list you will see what qualifies them to be considered as "blocked":

Marketo | Blocked_Leads_APM_ALL_15Q3_CH_Perform Global User Conference 2014_WW.2. Follow up - attendee.Email_Batch_SmartList_45… 2016-02-05 11-14-23.png

You can then create individual lists if you want to see which lead falls in which category or if there's only a few leads, have a look at the lead record.

Hi Louiza,

Thanks for your reply, but below is the screengrab of how it is appearing at my end if we look into smart list.

However, the exact reason can be known only when clicked on particular lead (but we cannot go to each and everyone of them to check for the reason).

Can you let me know how to get the display as shown by you.

Sri

Hello Sri! ( Educator Emails )

You can access what I posted if you click on the "Around x leads are blocked from emails" and look into that smart list.

But either way that won't help you know which category each one of them falls under. To achieve that you will need to create multiple smart lists which replicate the smart list of your campaign and add one of the criteria (for example "blacklisted")

I hope this helps!

From my understanding it's people who are unsubscribed and have reached the daily communication limit. Some people may have deeper findings, but that's what we've found.

A trick we use is to block people who are unsubscribed via a Suppression List in our Smart List, so that this number is reduced in this section and we only focus on the the Set to affect around part.

Hey Frank, I could be wrong here, but I don't believe that people who have hit communication limits will be included in this count. I think they will just be excluded from the final send.

Totally correct, my bad, Marketo says it:

Blocked leads are people in the Marketo database that are marked blacklisted, unsubscribed, marketing suspended, and that have invalid/empty email.
