Problem with Web Direct Source

Hi,

we're having a lots of leads with Web Direct Source (our domain is exoplatform.com)

but I see in Lead's Original Referrer sometime start with our blog http://blog.exoplatform.com/ with long path behind

(sometime in lead's log there is no activity log also)

I don't think users  type this link directly on his browser's address

Do you have any idea on this my problem?

Thx

Re: Problem with Web Direct Source

The basic HTTP_REFERRER technology just reports the referring domain. So any url, not being the same domain as your website. However this also applies to subdomains. blog.domain.com is considdered a different domain than www.domain.com. However I do believe Marketo can help you with ignoring the subdomains. On our end we want to keep insight in the blog.quintiq.com compared to our www.quintiq.com.

I'm not sure if Marketo shortens the referring url by default. The standard technlogy provides the entire URL. In Salesforce we have a rule to remove everything from the URL starting with /. This results in only the domain being shown. The same approach could be used in Marketo.

Do you know how to configure to ignore the subdomains in sub domain?

The Original Referrer shoud be the page before they visit our sub-domain
