We have 6 different internal business units with separate marketing divisions. I'm trying to create a field that will indicate which business unit was the source of a contact/lead. Some of our customers do purchase items from multiple business units, but I'd like to call out the team that first influenced a customer.
This field will be used for reporting, segmentation for future marketing campaigns and Salesforce assignment rules. My thoughts are something along the lines of "Marketing Sourced Business Unit" or "Source Business Category" but neither of these have a great ring to them. Anyone have a similar field they have used that makes sense for this particular scenario?
You could go with something using "First Touch" since basically you're trying to attribute the first touched BU. Customer Source BU is another option.
Here are my suggestions!
Primary business category
Profit center (though most people like to consider Marketing a cost center)
Lead source unit
