Have learned that the seizure-inducing animation can, for the most part, be disabled and have put away the 6-pound ball peen hammer.

We have a lot of users - novice, intermediate, advanced - and we did a lot to ensure that customers were aware of these changes. The bouncing ball was designed to draw attention so that you interacted with it. And as the other users stated, once you clicked on it it stopped. It won't start up again.

Hey John. Have you clicked on it yet to get the drop-down nav? That was the reasoning behind it... so you'd know that was there. I think they are trouble shooting the fact that it continues to bounce in the activity log view? But not sure. Mine stopped in the main views after the first time I clicked it.
