As I understand it the GUID is generated in MS dynamics and certain fields cannot sync to Dynamics without the GUID. It seems the GUID can be hard coded into the sync but that's not feasible when there is thousands of values.
Just wondered how others are getting around this. Any info would be helpful at this point.
I'm still looking at scribe to be honest. Seems the standard connector still doesn't really sync to Dynamics without issues.
Seems the standard connector will not sync GUIDs to Marketo, which means I cant sync certain values into dynamics.
Seems a catch 22...
I need to somehow have these values in Marketo to push look up field data to Dynamics
All GUIDs sync over in our environment (without doing any custom work).
With the standard connector?
I wonder if we have missed something. Do you have any more info on that?
Yes, with the standard connector. We're on MSD 2016 Online. Did you enable the sync on those fields within Admin?
Marketo support told us it cant do this? My dev says its not in Admin, no options to sync GUIDs. But he was expecting it to do it.
Is it hidden in admin somewhere? we have MSD 2016 online also.
It's right here (for the "owned by" example I referenced earlier):
Aha, hes looking in Dynamics.
If I set a custom field as Owned By you have just mapped this to GUID in Dynamics?
That then two way syncs the GUIDs?
Thank you so much and sorry for all the questions
For custom entities like this, the GUID is the ONLY value that syncs over. You need to set this up as a CE in Marketo if you also want to sync the "friendly" names in the lead record.
Thanks for the info. I'm currently looking at using Scribe.
However it still seems a simple case of syncing the guid from dynamics to marketo (will need to make a custom field). After that both field types will sync.
