Hello, and thank you for your input!

I set up a Nurture campaign with a set first cast, which has already gone out. However, I would like to change the deployment time for future casts. The only way to do this seems to be changing the first cast date to a future date. Will that cause people to receive the first email in my nurture again?

No.

Let's interpret the "First Cast" setting as the "first cast of the new schedule". And it's absolutely okay to change the schedule mid-nurture.

And by the way: It's pretty much impossible to send the an email again from the same stream to the same people. The Engagement Program's intrinsic mechanics prevent that from happening, regardless if your content is an email or a Program/Smart Campaign.
