Marketo communication limits and email sends

Hello,

 

We have set a Marketo communication limit of 1 email/day. I scheduled an email for an audience on Wednesday, August 6, 2024, at 8 AM PDT which was sent out successfully. However, the same audience is also part of a nurture program where they receive an email every Thursday i.e today at 10 AM in their respective time zones. It appears that there was an overlap, and the nurture email for Thursday wasn't sent out as expected. Could you please let me know why this occurred? And please advise on corrective steps we can take.

Please check your limits per 7 days.

It may be possible that email from EP was not sent because of 7 day limit. 

But this should not worry you as mail from EP will be sent that recipient on the next cast.

The communication limit per 7 days is 5 emails. So, it should have been sent, right?

 

Also, the email from EP will get delivered in the next cast but we also have the same kind of email calendar planned for next week so was hoping to address and schedule better for next week.

Hi @ShreyaResilinc ,

 

Per 7 days limit works on the rolling stock basis so chances are there that the recipients might have received 5 mail within the past consecutive 7 days.

Per day limit works from midnight to midnight in your subscription time zone.

For mails in recipients time zone you should schedule your email program at least 35 hours prior.

 

You can make use of Marketing calendar to check the overlapping campaigns & member criteria to remove overlap.

So, I believe the per day limit caused the issue because one email was scheduled for 8 AM PT on a Wednesday and the email in the EP was scheduled for 10 AM recipient timezone.

 

One more question: If I change the cadence for the email in the EP to Thursday at 10 AM PT next week, while my other email is scheduled for Wednesday at 8 AM PT next week, will this create an overlap?

 

Since the same audience that received email on this Wednesday will receive an email on the 8th day i.e next week Wednesday, the seven-day communication limit should not impact them. Also, seven 7 day limit allows 5 emails for one person so even if they receive 2 during that time, that should not be blocked.

 

Additionally, if the email in the EP is scheduled for Thursday at 10 AM PT next week, there shouldn't be an overlap, as the "per day limit works from midnight to midnight in your subscription time zone." Please advise.

This will NOT create an overlap for the daily limit for your leads in PT time zone. 

 

For per 7 day it will be better if you can check that there should not be more than 5 email going out to that set within last seven days. 

So say your EP next cast is on Thursday 14th August so lead should have received less then 5 mail between 8th - 14th August.
