Landing Pages - Can they be www instead of www1?

I see that in Marketo I can create landing pages, but the domain is slightly different than our actual website. Any way to create landing pages for our actual website rather than a different domain? Any reason for why this can't be done? Thanks in advance!

If you want to use Marketo on your main website, you will need to use the Form embed code to have full integration.

It is usually easier to use the landing pages on Marketo (the cname.website.com) that you are asked to use whenyou setup. You do not have to, but using the embed code and then having to customize your forms will lead to extra work for the web team.

Zaki,

Can you explain what you mean by this? If you setup your CNAME for your landing pages, you can brand the URL so it matches your corporate website. Are you trying to do something more than this?

We want to build pages on the main domain of our website. Are there issues with this, or can we do this with Marketo?

The CNAME is not the actual website, but a different domain.

Your company owns your corporate website, so Marketo would never be able to publish something to your domain.

The CNAME actually is your website, since you are responsible for adding a rule in DNS to indicate that a specific address (that you own) should actually point to one of Marketo's servers. Any request to that address would be routed by your own DNS resource record to Marketo. Because you own your DNS resource record, this is your website. Marketo has no control over what happens when a request is made to that address.

If you want to use Marketo functionality on your own website and not use a CNAME, you can manually "embed" things like tracking javascript and forms but you would not be able to leverage the rich functionality Marketo has to offer. We highly recommend you implement a CNAME so that you can use this functionality.
