Is there anyway of getting around marketo pushing only as a lead to sf?

Ideally I would like to push new contacts in Marketo to contacts in SF, it looks like this is impossible?  Has anyone figured it out or am I stuck syncing to leads in sf?

There are several threads on Contact only use.

I believe the simplest way is to auto convert Leads using a tool like LeanData, RingLead, etc. Of course, I'm talking about net new records that wouldn't have been matched to existing SFDC Contacts. Really impt to have the right data process if you do this.
