Is there a way to view total number of smart list members w/o detail?

Hi,

I need to write down some stats about a specific program. At this stage, I just need to know  how many leads in and outside program  filled out a form in each of my main business zones. So far I have created a smart list that I have converted into a cached list, but the list just takes forever to run. This is getting worse if a colleague of mine is running smart lists at the same time or if the US are connected. Is there a FASTER way I could quickly find out how many leads answer xy criteria w/o  details on those leads? Performance issues are becoming a burden in our daily work...

Have you tried creating a view with email address as the only column? Perhaps that would help (never tried).
