When using the standard social toolbar in Marketo - for example:
Is it possible to track those known users who share our content with any of the social networks? I know we can view the number of times a page has been shared across the four main social networks:
But we're looking to identify WHO is sharing our content. After running a few tests, I'm not seeing any "sharing" information contained within the activity log.
Hi Dan
Use the "shared content" filter and the "Shares content" trigger

Thanks Greg. So it sounds like we need a separate program status to move someone into vs. having this activity automatically captured in the activity log. My concern is if it's not in the activity log to begin with, how can we filter/trigger on it?
Hi Dan,
I am not sure I understand your question, but I AFAIK the activity is captured in the log, otherwise the related filter and trigger could not work.

I believe all of the social trigger and filters - such as the ones below - are only usable with the social boost add-on (and not the standard social sharing icons that anyone can add to a landing page):
Triggers and Filters for Social Activities - Marketo Docs - Product Docs
The "Social Buttons" in the matrix above is the one part of the add-on - not the out-of-the-box social toolbar.
Hi Dan,
You are probably right. I have the social boost and the "shared content" filter indeed provides the list of the social buttons, the page being the constraint.

Seeing that there's probably no future support for the basic/out-of-the-box social capabilities - based on my post here: Issues when inserting social buttons on free-form landing page - I think I just need to figure out a way to make the social boost add-on work for us (even though there hasn't been any features added for a couple years now). Have you been able to figure out way to include UTM parameters in the URL that's shared across the three social networks when using the social boost configuration wizard?
BTW, the one thing that concerns me is the disclaimer window that pops up after someone clicks on a share button. I'd have to think many are turned away from this (which is another reason we usually opted for the basic toolbar). I still wonder why they include "Update your profile" and "follow new people" as part of the language:
Hi Dan,
the disclaimer window is the reason why we have stopped using the button. The sharing rate proved to be far lower than with standard share buttons.
It should be possible to dynamically add the UTMs and munchkin click link activity on the basis of a JS code that would generate the share buttons such as this one: CSButtons – Custom Share Buttons | jQuery Plugins
Something that would require the wizardry of Sanford Whiteman or Courtney Grimes

So I tried to a create a quick smart list and added the "shared content" filter. But my options for "Social App" are just a handful of landing pages - and none of them include the recent LPs that were built this week that do include the social toolbar that I included above. Are you sure these filters aren't for the social boost add-on (rather than the out-of-the-box social toolbar)?
I found several bugs with this (mainly UI and configuration issues) - separate support cases open - and wonder if this is yet another bug with the toolbar.
