inflated scores

I was told to reset my scoring if they get inflated as they will affect reporting/sales insight.  I can't remember why, but should I continue with resetting the scores?  if so, why? Or would be it be helpful to see which leads are more active than others?

Thanks,
Sherin

Re: inflated scores

The only time I reset score is for bad fits/internal employees/etc. Other than that, I'll simply decrement scores based on inactivity. To keep this relative, you can decrement scores based on tiers. For example, after 90 days of inactivity:
  • If score is <30, change score -15
  • If score is 30--50, change score -20
  • If score is 50-100, change score -35
  • etc.

And leaving the scores doesn't affect your Sales Insight reporting?

Re: inflated scores

I suppose it depends on what you think it might affect. Yes, you'll end up with plenty of highly active leads that have scores well above the others, but regardless of how you might reset scores, you'll always have anomalies.

Re: inflated scores

It depends on your business and what you are using scoring for. We worked with a client to reset a lead's behavioral scores once they requested a quote. We would never reset their demographic scores. We've been considering doing something similar in our instance.
