We currently have a hidden form field "GCLID" which in normal situations is NULL. However if someone searches for us and find us through a Google Search and subsequently fills up the form we would like to autofill that field with the keyword they used to find us.
Does anyone have any experience on this?
Thanks.
It's been years since keyword data was provided in referrers or query strings, Hossein. Since the advent of secure search (nearly a decade ago) Google has been gradually limiting the publication of such data -- which is, it should be noted, private data that the end user did not consent to leak outside of the search engine.
So the answer is: you can't do this.
Well the only reason I wanted to get it is because our client has (somehow) been able to do it prior to moving to Marketo and therefore would like to continue to do so.
The keywords they entered are not forwarded to your site. Nothing to do with Marketo.
PPC matched terms can br forwarded to your form using a ValueTrack template. Not the same as the raw entered keywords.
yeah I clarified with them, it seems they actually meant PPC and they pass it as a parameter in the form of ID so we got it covered.
OK, pls mark my answer as correct. Thanks.
