How to change lead owner for leads that have already been synced to CRM?

We sync all "suspect" leads (a stage within our lead lifecycle) to CRM immediately as they happen (which are also assigned to a lead owner based on country).  If any of leads become MQLs, they proceed down our lead lifecycle workflows - which includes syncing them to CRM (that's the only way to assign the most up-to-date lead ownership).  We do this since it could be very well possible that the lead owner changed to someone different from the time the lead was initially synced to CRM.  Understandably, there will be a sync error since the lead is already in CRM.  But we told by Marketo that the "lead owner" value would still change.  This has not been happening for us.  The lead owner retains the lead owner value from when the lead was initially synced to CRM.  This is causing all kinds of routing issues - in fact, some lead alerts never making it to the appropriate lead owner. 

If Marketo is unable to update the lead owner due to a sync error, how do we go about updating this value within our workflows?  We're using MS Dynamics 2013.

I can only tell you how it works from SFDC, which might help (or not!).

Sync to SFDC: Auto Assignment only assigns the first time the lead syncs. SFDC needs a special trigger or a Change Owner to re-assign the lead to someone else.

Usually I sync all leads to Queues, where they wait until MQL and then get reassigned. I do this (usually) by setting Lead Status or Lifecycle Stage=MQL which triggers SFDC to run the assignment rules again.

This flow action does not have an error unless the lead is missing required creation data.

Is there a way to have MSD do something similar? Could you use Change Owner with Choice Steps?

Josh, what flow action do you use to Change Owner?  That's what I was hoping to do - similar to what we do today within the "Sync Lead to Microsoft" flow step (where we have a series of choice steps based on country value) - but there is no such flow action available.

Hi Dan,

I guess MSD doesn't have a Change Owner action then. With SFDC integration, it is called Change Owner.

Maybe check with Support?
