We're looking to automate emails for subscribers when we post a new blog post. Can this be done? We've only found one paid solution so far, seeing how others handle this. We'd like to handle it through a Marketo form so we can track in Salesforce.
Yes, Digesto is the only RSS automated solution. Marketo also uses it.
You can definitely collect the emails via Marketo and track in SFDC out of the box. You just won't be able to trigger an email automatically without Digesto.
The only automated way that I know of to send emails from a blog post is via Perkuto's product called Digesto: http://perkuto.com/product/rss-to-email-for-marketo-digesto
