How do you convert a static list to a smart list?

We have a static list that we would like to make into a smart list.  How do we do that or can you?

Agreed, just find a similar feature (lead source, description, email, etc) and pull a smart list based on those parameters

You would create a smart list that pulls in member of the existing list. You can't "convert" it.
