We were using this list on another platform (Knowledge Marketing) that allowed us to cap the number of leads we sent to at a certain number that we determined. In this case, the lists total size was 34K, and we only needed to send roughly 19K based on how the list and email was sold. With such a large disparity between what we need to send, and the size of the list I am not sure that any of the smart list filters would be able to narrow down the audience enough to not oversend.
Is there a similar functionality in Marketo that will allow us to cap the number of emails we want to deploy, instead of sending to the entire list?
You can use the Random Sample Filter to populate a Smart List. If you had 50k names but only wanted 25k sent - create a smart list with Random Sample of 50%
There are some articles on using Random Sample.
But there are at least two ways to do this:
Option 1: in the campaign:
Option 2: dual campaign, dual list
Run a flow that does
then Run a flow:
Member of List A, Send Email.
