Formatting Emails

I am having issues with formatting in the email draft not matching what is sent in the test email.  The email is approved status with the formatting changes.

For example, I have a bulleted list which is double spaced in the editor, I then approve the email and send myself a test.  The bulleted information contains no spaces in the test send.  I did this yesterday so I thought i would give it a day and see if it took the changes but it didnt.  Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks!

Re: Formatting Emails

Erin,
Are you using any custom CSS?  Which version of Outlook (or other mail client) are you seeing this problem on?  Some of these issues crop up because CSS is handled differently by your browser and mail client.

I would suggest that you test your emails with a deliverability service like the one described at https://community.marketo.com/MarketoTutorial?id=kA250000000KyyMCAS to make sure it would render properly on the email clients that are important to you.

Re: Formatting Emails

Hi Raj:

Yes we are using custom CSS, our email provider is Outlook 2010.  We have never had this issue before.  Our designer will create a custom email and we continuously edit for each email until he creates a new version.  We are not using templates at this time.  Each email usually contains a bulleted list as well.

Re: Formatting Emails

HTML emails I create in Marketo don't always come out as I intended on Outlook 2010, especially the Mac version. It takes some tweaking. I test multiple times. Also, not all CSS styles work on HTML emails, i.e. CSS positioning. I try to design my HTML in the simplest way possible. I've actually forgone CSS positioning and use tables instead. There are many resources online that highlight which CSS is ignored by HTML emails.

My suggestion is to code the email in basic HTML.
