A new term was brought up to me recently - Fluid Hybrid Email Template Design. (http://www.emarketer.com/Article/Marketers-Choose-Responsive-Email-Templates-Over-Fluid-Hybrid-Desig...). I'm looking to understand if it’s something we should be doing or not - currently we use very basic one and two column email templates built in Marketo. I am totally green on the subject so any insight is appreciated! Thank you.
Well, I am not sure you need something like this. But if you are marketing to a mobile audience then you should definitely be using mobile optimized emails and landing pages. We have a variety of responsive design templates at templates.marketo.com
Are you saying you don't know if we need it just because we're currently using such basic templates?
I mean that you may not need something like a fluid hybrid design. You should verify that it is necessary before you invest in it. Do you know what % of your users are viewing content on mobile?
Hi Lisa Heay,
I have found something but it is still in the my testing phase.
Why don't you give it a shot and share the results with us.
email on acid has a really good intro to this that should answer most your questions: A Fluid Hybrid Design Primer
As a personal note on it, I find them more obnoxious to build initially, but the consistency across clients is my main priority, and for that it works very well. I'll also say having just come from Summit, the changes coming to the Marketo email builder/template setup are amazing and seem like they will bode very well to anyone looking to setup a custom [hybrid fluid] template. (also, they will be releasing dozens of pre-built/free templates designed to be optimized for mobile across most/all clients).
