Filtering out "fake" clicks

Lately we've been noticing that Marketo is registering clicks that aren't actually being executed by a human. (Likely spam filter/email gateway checks where they sandbox the URL and validate that it's not malicious.) While this technology is useful for security purposes, it is skewing our Email Performance Reports, creating "false" MQLs, and just causing mayhem in my Marketing Ops world.

Has anyone faced this same issue and found a solution? We've played around with the idea of adding a constraint on our Clicked Link tracking campaigns within the individual Email Programs that have the filter that they visited the web page (or vice versa with the web page as the trigger and the click as a filter), but timing issues make it not 100% reliable.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Search the Nation for "mail scanner" -- there are numerous discussions including one going on right now at Email Clicks on Delivery But No Matching Web Page Visits Logged
