I'm running a batch campaign and in one of the flow steps, we are getting a 90% soft bounce rate. Can anyone help me understand this and what I can do about it? The campaign is running two more times and I need to address this problem before the next time that flow step occurs.
What are the details of these soft bounces?
Hi Sanford, thanks so much for replying. I figured out the problem was my own stupidity. I had used incorrect information in one of the fields, which created a large number of soft bounces. Once I corrected the mistake, the remaining emails were delivered fine.
OK!
Yeah, it sometimes happened with me, here some tips to improve your soft bounces:
Soft bounces are often caused by temporary delivery issues that may be solved by the next email send. These issues include:
Your subscriber’s mailbox is full
Your recipient’s email server is down
The email message is too big.
Hope this will help you improve your subscriber's database.
Mistakes w/tokenized headers, and Velocity-level errors, account for more soft bounces in Marketo than the generic reasons you list here.
Some of the generic concepts are applicable in Marketo, too, but realize this is a Marketo-specific question. 90% Marketo soft bounces is not a general "Why are messages bouncing?" scenario.
(Also: "message too big" is almost never a legit reason for a Marketo soft bounce, and your list leaves out typos in domains. )
