[Event Concluded] Ask Me Anything about the Marketo Advanced BI Analytics

EVENT CONCLUDED - Thanks for your questions!

Join us for this AMA on May 28th, 2025 from 9 AM PST to 10 AM PST, as our product expert Li Gao (@liga1) walks you the key benefits, best practices, and use cases for the Advanced BI Analytics reporting capabilities, coming soon to your Marketo Engage instance!

Advanced BI Analytics, formerly known as Revenue Explorer or Revenue Cycle Explorer, represents a significant evolution of the embedded custom reporting functionality within Marketo Engage. While maintaining compatibility with existing reporting data models, it now leverages the Snowflake data warehouse for enhanced performance and integrates embedded Power BI for a modern, intuitive, and interactive visualization experience.

This advanced platform empowers users to uncover deeper insights, optimize performance, and create compelling data-driven narratives without requiring data engineering expertise or prolonged development cycles.

Advanced BI Analytics is currently in public beta for all existing Revenue Explorer customers, with general availability scheduled for June 1, 2025. The legacy Revenue Explorer experience will be discontinued on the same date.

Please see some sample questions to get a feel for what this AMA will cover (these are the real questions from the customer webinar):

  • Will all the same visualizations available in Power BI be available in Advanced BI Analytics platform?
  • Can you also report on emails not sent due to Comms limit?
  •  What is the data freshness compared to the legacy experience?
  • Does it support custom fields?
  • Does it support custom objects?
  • Does it include any AI capabilities?
  • Will we be able to use segmentations as a grouping or filter type?
  • What is the data retention policy? Is it same as the legacy experience?
  • Will publishing additional fields from Marketo work the same way as the legacy experience?
  • Will folder be supported?

Re: [May 28 AMA] Ask Me Anything about the Marketo Advanced BI Analytics

Is it possible to rename reports?

Is it possible to move tabs from one report to another? During the migration, our reports were grouped into tabs, but not all the groupings make sense and we need to reorder them.

Renaming report - not today but it will be added. As of today you'll need to duplicate the report as a workaround.

Moving tabs across reports - this may not be possible. Reports in the old experience were grouped in the new experience because there is a max of 700 reports limits in the new experience and we grouped your reports during the migration if you have more than 700 reports.

Is it possible to share a published link with Marketo users where they will not be able to edit the dashboard?

Re: [May 28 AMA] Ask Me Anything about the Marketo Advanced BI Analytics

Not today. We will add a share capability that you can share a deep link, but the recipient also needs to be a Advanced BI Analytics user and as of today there is no read-only access yet. The recipient could edit the report / dashboard.

That's good to hear you will be adding deep links - do you have a timeline on this?

The advanced BI analytics is a great enhancement that we will no doubt get a lot of value from, but the fact that any Marketo user can edit the report is a big risk. We have a lot of users that could unintentionally make changes.

Timeline - tentatively the second half this year. Note the priority of the second half this year is to revamp the ETL pipeline and work on a few data integrity issues.

Access control - there is no read vs. write access control in Advanced BI Analytics today, regardless it's the old or the new experience. We understand there is a strong desire to have read vs. write access control and we'll add it to the backlog. For full transparency, it will be a somewhat larger lift to design and implement access control.

Yes. It's an available action on the report today.
