Engagement Program Trigger Email Send

I'm currently in the process of building a nurture program with multiple streams. A lead will qualify for the engagement program and will enter one of the four streams once they have been added to a particular Salesforce campaign by one of our marketing representatives.

In our other nurture programs, once someone is added to a stream, the cadence is set to send them the first email in the stream the next day.  However, for this new engagement program, we want to send the first email in the stream the same day the lead is added.

I was planning to set up a trigger campaign in the first email program that says if you were Added to Engagement Program and your stream is "X" then send "Email #1"of "X" stream. They would then go into a status change campaign that would pause them, wait 30 days, then change them back to normal so that they would then get the next email in the stream. FYI - the 2nd and 3rd emails in the stream do not need to be triggered and can be sent using the engagement stream cadence.

Has anyone had any experience in setting up an engagement program this way or know how this could be accomplished? Any insight/advice/best practices are greatly appreciated!

Re: Engagement Program Trigger Email Send

Yes, it sounds like an independent trigger campaign would be the best first step. You could, though, have that be the Engagement controller instead of a qualifier; meaning, have the "welcome email 1" that gets triggered by SFDC campaign member, sends the first email, and then adds the person to the Engagement program in the appropriate stream. That way, if you really want to wait 30 days before the next engagement email, you can keep them outside the engagement program and then add them when their time qualifies—rather than using paused statuses.

One thing to keep as a note, if you have an email outside your engagement program streams, you'll need to merge reports or take that into consideration when calculating your overall Engagement Program successes.
