Re: Engagement Campaigns - "Skipping" emails to those who have the content already?

Hello,

I'm very new to Marketo and have just finished the Foundations Course. I'm struggling with setting up a campaign. We have a series of e-book offers that we'd like to send our leads periodically. Since the leads can jump into the flow/stream at any e-book offer, I don't want them to get an email offering them an e-book that they've already downloaded.

I am attempting to NOT send an email if they've filled out that particular e-book form. I haven't been successful yet. Can anyone point me towards documentation or tell me what they've done for this situation?

Thanks!
Carrie

@Cheryl, I've tried both a smart campaign and an engagement program. Still not really sure which is the better option.

It seems easier to use Elliott's advice and set this up in my smart campaign:

Send Email
Choice 1
IF: Member of Smart List > "not in" > Downloaded XX E-Book
EMAIL: XX E-Book Offer

Default Choice
EMAIL: ??

This is where I'm getting confused. Is the default choice going to send to anyone who is not on my selected smart list?

Thanks Elliott and Cheryl!

@Carrie - are you trying to use the new engagement engine functionality to accomplish this?

You can create a set of static Lists to which you would add anyone that downloads an ebook.  Then your smart campaign that sends the email for a particular ebook would use a "Member of List not in xxx" filter or constraint on the Send Email flow action.
