Email template edit issue

I have made some changes in an email template and then approved it. This email template was used by many emails and now all these emails are in the draft and when i try edit these emails or approve them it is showing the email template content rather than the original email content. Is there any way to get back the old content of the emails? Please help..

Next time, clone the template and edit the new template.  If you make changes to the template, those are the changes you want to cascade down to the emails that use that template like a footer change that you want to happen globally.

Hi Sarin,

If you haven't approved them you can de-link the particular email from template and discard the changes. But this is not the right approach to use always because once you de-link the email from template then all your future changes in template will not come up in old email.

By de-linking you mean to edit the email code (html) and pasting the code of the existing email? In this case, the email will have no template?

Yes, but again this is not the good approch to use always.
