Email bounce backs

Hi, there... Does anybody know the difference between 'email bounced' and 'email bounced soft?

If I click on a lead who has an email bounced soft - there could be one of several messages:
1) no match detected (does this mean the employee is probably no longer at the company?)
2) bounced filters matched message body - what is this?

thanks.

Re: Email bounce backs

These help articles explain the difference:

https://community.marketo.com/MarketoArticle?id=kA050000000Kypz&src=comm

https://community.marketo.com/MarketoArticle?id=kA050000000KzZy&src=comm

Generally Soft Bounces are temporary conditions and Marketo won't set the Invalid Email flag to "True" or suspend email from being sent for 24 hours.

Hard Bounces are more permanent condictions and Marketo may set the Invalid Email flag to "True".  If the email is being blocked, (e.g. error message may be "Exceeded MaxAttempts - 550 5.2.0 Blocked), Marketo will not set the Invalid Email flag to "True", but will suspend email from being sent for 24 hours.

Re: Email bounce backs

Elliott's got this one. To answer your specific questions:

1. the error "No Match Detected" likely means there is no such user, although that's usually an error "No Such User"
2. Bounced Filters Matched Body Message: this sounds like the receiving server is looking for spam words and your message matched it for some reason. Consider running your marketing emails through Spam Assassin or Litmus.com to see if you are over using words like "free", "offer", etc.
