Disable automatic formatting in MktEditable areas

I'm trying to simplify the workflow for email editing. Each time I double click to open the WYSIWYG editor and begin entering content, the editor assigns default styling to the text as opposed to inheriting the styles assigned. Is there a way to disable that default styling?

Can you explain a little more as I find this to be strange behavior. Can you tell me about how your styles are written? Are they in block css at the head of the email, or are they inline? if they are inline, are the stylings on the <div> tags or are they in <span> tags within the mktEditable section?  Does those questions make sense?
