I am having trouble with the naming conventions when it comes to filtering my Smart Lists. For instance, in one of my Smart Lists, I want to exclude contacts with a specific owner, Roger. So I found out that Marketo looks at Leads and Contacts the same.
If I want to exclude contacts that are owned by Roger, but not leads owned by Roger, is there a way to do this? If I use Lead owner not contains Roger, then I'm excluding both leads and contacts owned by Roger, and I do not want that as I stated before. Is there a way around this?

Hello Jenny,
Marketo has a field SFDC Type, which tells you if a record in Salesforce.com is a lead or a contact. In your case you could use a condition like this:
Advanced filter (1 or 2)
1. Lead owner not contains Roger
2. SFDC Type is Lead
Best,
Pavel

Is there any documentation anywhere clarifying these naming conventions for newbies like me who are getting confused and messing up their campaigns because of them?
Hello Jenny,
the SFDC Type (together with other Salesforce mappings) is documented here: Default Salesforce Field Mapping - Marketo Docs - Product Docs.
I hope it helps.
Pavel
Sorry for my delay. Yes it does. Thanks so much!
