We're in the process of evaluating de-duplication tools for our SFDC environment. Since not everything comes through Marketo, we want to have something in place in that database as well. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know that we've heard DemandTools is great, but I wasn't sure how well it works when you also use Marketo.

Anyone have any suggestions or feedback?

Yes, all of their applications work cross-object so identifying, merging and preventing Lead-Contact and Lead-Account duplicates is possible based on how you configure the tool.

Does RingLead catch dupes when a new Contact is being created, but a Lead already exists (especially if it is the same email address)?  DupeCatcher does not provide cross-object checking.

Ringlead is great in the sense that when a sales rep goes to enter a lead that Ringlead says already exists in the database, a message lets the person know so they do not enter.  On the chance that the rep decides to enter the record as a duplicate anyway, Ringlead gives you the ability to pull a report on who is bypassing the "possible duplicate" message.  Then you can pinpoint who your problem children really are. 🙂

Thanks for the app name Amber, also did you do away with the leads tab in SFDC, I think you mentioned that somwhere.  Thanks everyone for posting the de-dupe tool.  We're exploring a deduping tool too.  Our List developer is not sold on DupeCatcher and Ringlead.  I want to test Ringlead for myself though on the Marketo side. She's testing Ringlead on the SFDC side.

The event app that we use is called Full Contact Card Reader. It's really nice. The only downfall is that it doesn't update the campaign in Salesforce so I have to run a report and change the status of the campaign members which triggers Marketo to send out our event follow up emails. So, it's an almost no touch integration for us for events.

We had a database of 120,000 leads and contacts and we used RingLead to remove dupes, which ended up being about 15% of our database. I would highly recommed them for deduping, but they also have other Marketo integrations such as Marketo form integration that catches leads that are duplicates that may already exist in your database but are using a different email alias.

I'll check with our events manager. I can't remember the name of it, but I do know that when they take a picture, you also have the option of requiring your reps to fill out a few fields as well that get entered based on your SFDC fields. The only downfall that we've found is that unless we create a different "survey" for each show, we can't automatically add them to the campaign in SFDC as leads. But, that's a real quick report that we run to keep updated.

Based on what you're looking for I'd definitely take a look at RingLead. In theory it would catch the dupes before they get created in SFDC.

Amber, what app are you using to take a picture of the business card? I want to suggest it to our Managing Directors so they don't have to give the cards to our data associate.

Our leads basically come from 3 areas - Marketo, sales rep entered directly into Salesforce and then for events, we have an app that allows the rep to take a picture of the business card and it converts that data directly into a lead record in Salesforce (saves so much time from having to scan!)

Some of the functionality that we really want is the ability to catch dupes as they are entered and possibly even merge the new information directly into the existing record, whether it is a lead or contact/account. And we also really need the cross-object functionality since our sales group really does not use leads, but we import any new records in as a lead until they are verified.

I'm currently doing a trial of RingLead which has an integration to both Marketo and SFDC. So far I've been impressed, not only by the dupes it catches, but the functionality to catch dupes before the enter the system. I also like that I can run cross-object dupe reports (lead-contact, lead-account). I also just turned on the functionality in SFDC to catch dupes before they're created when a rep tries to create a new lead or contact.

We use DupeCatcher to prevent duplicates and it works reasonably well.  They have a deduplication app for SFDC "Cloudingo", but we have not needed to use it since all of our leads either go through Marketo first or are created by sales in SFDC and DupeCatcher prevents the dupes.
