Conference/ event tracking: Looking to track and report on meetings held post event

Hi all,

First off,  apologies if this post is not categorized properly--  not sure the best place for a posts like this to live.

I'm curious if anyone has a solution for a challenge of ours. We are attempting to better understand the meetings that have been generated post attending a conference. Currently we have a manual process that involves uploading lead into a SDFC campaign and then tying any open opps to the conference. What we are missing is the middle data points which are ...how many meetings have resulted from an event.  Is there a way to:

1. Isolate meetings created from events? Meeting source will not work because we do not want to create a meeting source for every event and we do not want it to be a manual process.

2. If the above is possible, can we report in aggregate to show # of meetings held?

Thanks!

Re: Conference/ event tracking: Looking to track and report on meetings held post event

Are these meetings only logged as SFDC activities, or is there some other system involved?

It’s difficult to imagine a way this works without some kind of tagging. For Calendly meetings, for example, we attach the Marketo {{program.id}} to links, which lets us add people to the designated program if they book a meeting. But this naturally requires that the Program be created in Marketo first. Although we theoretically could create a Program on the fly, there would still need to be a guaranteed-unique name attached to the link, which is tough to enforce across a team.

But overall I’m not clear about why the “middle data points” are missing. If you’re able to tie an Opp to a Event, why can’t you report on the number of Event-linked Opps?

@SanfordWhiteman Yeah, i'm not sure there is a feasible solution for this. It's been difficult for us to track the types of meetings folks are having.

To answer your question, we want to capture how many meeting are being generated from events post conference to determine fairly quickly if the conference was a right fit for us and if our attendees were able to get meetings on the calendar. Our sales cycle tends to be a bit longer so would like to have a pulse on this prior to an opp being open.
