Communication between GoToWebinar and Marketo

Hi everyone,

Would like to know the time it takes for Marketo and GoToWebinar to exchange lead data/information with each other when synced.

If someone registers for a webinar, is it advisable to place a wait to send flow step before sending confirmation email so that the systems have time to exchange lead data/information with each other?

Please advise and thanks!

Tom

Re: Communication between GoToWebinar and Marketo

Hi Tom,

As soon as a lead is given the status of Registered within your Marketo program that's synced to the Webinar provider, that lead's information is pushed over.  The {{member.webinar url}} token will be able to populate immediately barring any server issues, so a wait step is not really necessary.  Some people do still include a wait step of a few minutes for peace of mind.

As Mike said above, the attendance information will be pushed back to Marketo after the event, but this can take anywhere from 2 hours to two days.  It depends on when the webinar provider has it ready for Marketo.  Also, keep in mind that leads registering on the webinar side will not be pushed to Marketo until the attendance report is pushed, so it's best to have all your leads register through Marketo.  It sounds like your already doing that though.

Hi Tom,

As far as sending the confirmation email, it is not necessary to include a wait step in order for a prospect to receive their log in information.

However, it can take a few hour to a day to update attendance information.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for fast response.  I was also thinking about placing a "save the date" calendar token in the thank you/confirmation landing page, but wasn't sure if the member URL would populate so quickly after filling out the form.

Re: Communication between GoToWebinar and Marketo

Hi Tom and all,

Be aware that we have observed a bug in the past few days, by which tokens within the .ics token do not populate and end up empty.

We have seen this on a couple of Marketo instances. The support is aware, of course.

Let us know if you observe similar issues.

Thanks Greg!  I'll submit a new case if I see it.
