Can't view email in SFDC after using Log with Marketo in Outlook

It seems as though whenever an emal in Outlook is logged into Marketo using the Log with Marketo function, the Comments section in the corresponding Task that is created in the SFDC Activity History indicates that the "Email details are being uploaded from Marketo...please check back later", but it never gets updated as in the screen shot below of an email that was logged months before.  I'm trying to understand if this is a bug or if the Log with Marketo feature can't add a link that will display the email to the task, but the message is just misleading.  Is anyone else seeing this behavior?

The good news is you can see the logged email if you click it's Subject in the Sales Insight section of the SFDC record.

Re: Can't view email in SFDC after using Log with Marketo in Outlook

Hi Elliot,

Has this just been occuring recenlty or do all the emails sent via Outlook look this way?

I have seen this message occur before when the marketo sync user does not have write access to write to the Marketo email templates folder.

It has been occuring with about 66% of the 518 received emails that have been logged since July 2012.  The Marketo Synch profile has the Edit HTML Emails permission.

Hi Elliott, In SFDC go to setup, email templates. There should be a folder that refers to Marketo, click edit beside it and you should see who has what level of access.

It indicates that the folder is accesible by all users (screen shot below).  Let me know if I am looking at the right area.

I don't think it's a permissions issue because the same users that have the "Email details are being uploaded from Marketo...please check back later" message in the comments also have Tasks without this message.  I also discovered about 1.3% of the sales emails using Send and Track also have the "uploaded" message.

Re: Can't view email in SFDC after using Log with Marketo in Outlook

Hi Elliot,

If you haven't done so already can you log a support case and we can troubleshoot?
Mention my name in the ticket details and it can be passed to me. (I'm in EMEA so my communication may be a little delayed but I'm sure with some troubleshooting and possible some help from Engineering we can diagnose the issue)

I did come across this issue with another customer a few months back and it was related to a permissions issue. If the there was no access to the SFDC template folder at the time the task is created then all these tasks showed this message.

Once we granted access all emai/tasks from that point on contained the expected content.

Cathal
