Can saved smartlists be selected when setting up an email program or smart campaign?

For the life of me, I am unable to do this even though I can create and save a smartlist.

I am also unable to find any information in help or the tutorials about doing this. Seems like it would be a useful capability.

You can use Member Of Smart List filter.
