Can Marketo forms integrate with Akismet?

Hi everyone!

My team has been dealing with spam fills on our Marketo forms for a while. We did enable Captcha earlier this year but still keep getting massive amounts of spam fill. So we started looking for other options. One of which we're considering Akismet.

But we want to know if forms can integrate with Akismet? If not, are there any other plugins we should look into?

Yes, you can call the Akismet API using a webhook. I played around with this a few years ago. Of course you’ll still be accepting the initial form fill, so make sure not to take any action until Akismet has processed and rendered a verdict.

Perfect! By chance do you remember how long it took for Akismet to render verdicts?

You simply trigger on Webhook is Called. The response itself is basically instantaneous but you Marketo still needs to queue up the webhook and process the response.
