Blocking marketo/SFDC synch and then unblocking

We currently have bi-directional synch between Marketo and SFDC.

Our marketing team attend/sponsor conferences and receive a full list of event attendees however have not engaged with any our sales reps or visited our booth. However we do import them into our marketo instance via a list import.

What we would like to do is:

  • Only have in marketo and stop the synch for these people to synch over to SFDC
  • Set their lead score to 0
  • Assigned to a marketing owner.
  • Once they have engaged with any of our nurture emails their lead/behaviour score would be greater than 0
  • and have them synched over to SFDC and reassigned to a SDR

Has anyone done anything like this or have ideas on how to get something like this set up?

@SameetShah ,

This is pretty commonplace.  It's not really about blocking and unblocking however.

An easy way to do this is:

  1. Turn off the implicit sync between SFDC and Marketo.
  2. Include the score and marketing owner in your CSV file that you use for the list import so they get set to the initial values you want.
  3. Have a smart campaign that is set up to adjust their score on an email engagement and then sync them to SFDC

You'll also need to have smart campaigns in place for any other scenarios where you need to sync a Marketo only record into SFDC (e.g. a contact us form or similar if they are flowing directly into Marketo).

Cheers
