Adding a google calendar invite to programs

We run a lot of webinars. I have set them up so you can add an .ics to your calendar, but is there a way to add a google calendar invite as well?

Google calendar supports .ics files but it won't display as a calendar invite they way you expect.

Is there an alternate route? I use google calendar, but have iCal on my computer. when I download the file, it opens in iCal, but doesn't show anything in google calendar.
