Activity Updated Trigger - Problem

I'm trying to create a list of all leads which have had contact with sales in the last 90 days. We track all emails in the lead's activity history (via SFDC outlook plugin). 

When I create a smart-list with the "ACTIVITY WAS LOGGED", IN PAST 90 DAYS, SUBJECT IS NOT EMPTY, I get a list alright but it is missing folks that I can verify in SFDC have had activity logged. We allow marketo to log Was Sent Sales Email in the SFDC activity history, so that should certainly be a part of this pull, right? 

Anyone have any issues with this like we do? I've used this list in the past and have had no issue, seems like a recent problem.

Have you tried using the actual activities instead?

Was Sent Sales Email
Was Sent Email

etc...

That might work better.

The problem is not all activities start with "Was Sent" etc. when you use the Salesforce email plugin (not marketo sales insight plugin). So if a sales person logs an email, onlly the subject line used is logged as the activity.

It sounds like you are looking up leads in the returned list in SFDC and they do not have any email activities logged so you are confused why they are getting returned.

So something must be broken, because this has worked in the past.

I have a lead who has activity history in SFDC as follows "Was Sent Sales Email: Good Catching Up" on 2/17/2013.

When I use a smartlist with the above, I get 1,800 leads but this guy is not included. So something is not working properly. I just can't figure out what it might be.

I even use the following ANY criteria for the smart-list:

ACTIVITY WAS LOGGED, SUBJECT IS NOT EMPTY, LAST 90 DAYS
ACTIVITY WAS UPDATED, SUBJECT IS NOT EMPTY, LAST 90 DAYS
ACTIVITY WAS LOGGED, SUBJECT CONTAINS 'WAS SENT SALES EMAIL", LAST 90 DAYS

I'm not going crazy am I?

Jack - quite the opposite, the list in marketo is returning leads but is missing leads which I can verify (in SFDC) have had activity within the criteria I've set. The above example is one case which we found.

When you add the filters Josh suggested is the "lead who has activity history in SFDC as follows "Was Sent Sales Email: Good Catching Up" on 2/17/2013." also not returned in the smart list?

Correct.

I only got the lead to show up when I added to the smartlist also "WAs sent sales email" subject: any. 

I put in a ticket with Marketo support. It seems like for some reason the activity that Sales Insight puts into SFDC does not get picked up by our Marketo instance.
