Accessing data in fields on custom objects to use in emails

Is it possible to pull data into an email that is stored on a field in a SFDC custom object? I've been looking into possible ways to accomplish this, but have not come across a clear solution.

Here is what we want to do:

People can set goals in our CRM system. Each week, we want to send them an email with what their goals are for this week and what they accomplished last week. We plan to store a this data on a data table, but also add it in Salesforce on a custom object.

What would be the best way to go about adding the data to an email in Marketo? Should we be using email script tokens? Or would using webhooks be a better option?

As long as the SFDC custom object is related to Leads, Contacts or Accounts, you can sync it with Marketo and it will be available to use in emails via velocity
