A little bit about your Adobe Marketo Engage Community Mentor, Erin:

Nice to meet you, @amackenzie1!
Hello @amackenzie1
Nice to meet you. Welcome to the team.
I have the same query regarding our assignments further @ErinPollackQ2
Hello team,
I am unable to understand the Head start concept on Marketo as I am confused with the time zones.
Could someone please explain me with an example of London, UK time for me to be able to relate?
Regards,
Sadhana.
Nice question regarding Head Start.
Here's a quick article that can help with better understanding this tool:
https://nation.marketo.com/t5/product-discussions/head-start-for-email-programs/td-p/71615
I think the key nugget her is that head start will work through the processing of your smart list in advanced. If, for example, you have a smart list that has just a few criteria... you may not notice any sort of a difference or lag. However, if you have a smart list that includes a lot of criteria - criteria that may cause a lot of processing power on your system - then, the Head start program may be beneficial for you.
Any additional thoughts on that one?
General question for the group.
We're looking to track product sales in a 'rolling' fashion (e.g., rolling 30 days), and we're having difficulty with it. This is a little involved... so, here are some relevant details:
Our instance of Marketo doesn't have a CRM
We have a custom object and all of our product purchases are in the custom object - lumped together (they are separated, but when querying, we are querying the entire object and not just a single new product that was purchased).
We're trying to track the overall success of our onboarding campaigns as they relate to upselling products. For example: Member/Custom:
Our question is how to track this in an ongoing manner. Because, Member #2 would have entered the same process starting on January 2 after making their purchase (welcome email on Jan 3).
One option - a very manual option - is to create a smart campaign and adjust it daily (ugh). Filters include:
This flow could be manually adjusted each day for a new 30-day window.
However, I'm looking to have this more automated so that I don't have to adjust it daily.
Thoughts from the group???
Hey @JeffHensiek
This is just a fair shot from me!
I am thinking of a combination of a trigger campaign and an engagement programme with the below logic:
Engagement program:
I would set a stream cadence that the person should receive a monthly email on the 30th day and set the communication limit to 1; stop the email send once the limit is exhausted.
Trigger campaign:
Smart list: Person made a purchase
Flow: add to the above engagement programme.
I am conscious that the engagement programme might not serve the automatic 30 day email trigger. For example, I might not be receiving the email exactly on 3rd July if I make a purchase today, however, I feel this combination could work. Would love to know the solution your team is implementing. 🙂
Thanks for the suggestion... I do like the idea of creating a trigger campaign... that's a good thought. I'll have to see if I can play around with that logic a little.
A quick additional piece of clarity for everyone... This is an onboarding email series. The members would need to get an email based on the day that they make a purchase (e.g., the day after they make a purchase). While I like the Stream idea... my hurdle there (at lest, how we've implemented Streams in the past) is that we trigger a cast based on a particular day of the week (e.g., Tuesday). Is there a way to make a stream more dynamic (e.g., a cast on a particular cadence? e.g., send email on day 1 - wait 3 days - send email - wait 7 days - send email - wait 19 days - send email wait 31 days, etc.)?
Hi @JeffHensiek - One way is to use multiple streams and set the Transition Rules to pull the lead based on Email Delivered trigger + Wait step.
Hi @JeffHensiek
I am assuming we could incorporate Smart lists in the Engagement streams.
Would let others chip in as well
Afternoon, fellow group of aspirants!
I followed in Geoffrey's (@laevinsdad ) footsteps and took the practice exam. I'm pretty stoked at the results.
If you haven't taken a practice exam yet, please give it a shot. It was enlightening and eye opening.
Now, I'm looking forward to spending some time in the study materials.
Jeff Hensiek
Marketing Automation Program Manager.
Crushed it! Nice!
Hello @JeffHensiek @laevinsdad
I am unable to find the link to take the Practise exam. Could you please help me with it?
Great question @sadhanaravuri34 . I found it difficult to find where were the practice exams. So, I've put in some screen shots that - I hope - may be able to help you find this too.
And, there are probably multiple ways to find this area... so, it's possible that someone else has a different path to take. 🙂
This first picture is from the first post in this thread... our welcome to the mentor program.
@JeffHensiek - You are my saviour, Jeff! Thanks a ton! I will keep you guys posted with my score! 😄
Good Luck. You're going to do great.
The tool gives you about an hour to complete the practice exam.
By the way, the first screen shot is from the very first post in this thread - the post welcoming us to the Mentor program.
Hello team,
Are you guys able to access the prep guide? I currently see a 404 error page when clicked on the link.
@Jon_Chen - could you please advise?
Regards,
Sadhana.
*ignore please* (I saw the other most recent posts with the updated links) thanks @Jon_Chen
Not my group so I apologize, but I was checking out other groups to see if the same thing was happening to other people- and it looks like I am not alone. I also get the 404 error page...it started last week and is still occuring. Wondering if you were able to get it resolved?
Hello @sadhanaravuri34,@JeffHensiek @laevinsdad nice to meet you all. It is great hearing about your different backgrounds and levels of Marketo Engage experience!
FYI I am also seeing the 404 error with the exam prep guide links and I emailed @Jon_Chen to see if he is able to provide an updated url.
In the meantime, if you are looking for study materials to help prep you for the exam I would highly recommend using the attached prep guide. This is the exam prep guide I used in order to study and found it very useful! Please let me know if you are able to access this file.
Thank you for helping each other navigate as I know finding the exam is also a bit tricky. Here are a few other helpful links:
