This is the featured Community Discussion thread for your Adobe Marketo Engage Community Mentor, Carla Cabaceira (@Carla_Cabaceir1) who will be here to guide and support you and your peers with your Adobe Marketo Engage questions as you prepare for your Adobe Marketo Engage Professional (AD0-E555) exam, through to the end of the program.
A little bit about your Adobe Marketo Engage Community Mentor, Carla:
2x certified Marketo Engage Expert
Since 2014, I have accumulated about ten years of dedicated Marketo experience, developing deep expertise in marketing automation and supporting and training global teams. I am well-versed in demand generation best practices, scoring methodology, and understanding how systems interact with each other. My work at HID has been particularly impactful, as I have implemented several automated processes, significantly enhancing lead velocity and sharing between different business units.

That's awesome @abilashbaskaren ,
thank you for updating it with the latest, this will help everyone else that may have the same question.
Happy Wednesday everyone!
Q: What are smart campaign flow steps?
A: Smart Campaign flow steps are the actions that Marketo will execute on leads that qualify for the campaign.
These steps determine what happens to leads once they meet the campaign's Smart List criteria.
Understanding and effectively utilizing Smart Campaign flow steps is essential for automating and optimizing your marketing efforts in Marketo Engage. Familiarize yourself with the different flow actions, learn how to use tokens and conditional steps, and always test and monitor your campaigns to ensure they deliver the desired outcomes.
Here are a few flow actions:

Happy Wednesday @Carla_Cabaceir1
That's a great explanation about Flow Steps. My personal favorite is using tokens in the Flow Step to further automate our smart campaigns.
Happy Monday everyone,
Here's our quiz:
What is the primary function of a Smart Campaign in Marketo?
Hi @Carla_Cabaceir1
Answer: B) To automate marketing activities and workflows
Thank you for your engagement, @tshewang; your answer is correct!
B) To automate marketing activities and workflows
Question: We have a drip campaign that uses the Default Program with smart campaigns to send multiple emails at irregular cadence, e.g. 1 day, 3 days, 5 days, etc. We prefer sending these emails in the recipients' time zones, but smart campaigns don't have that option. In this case, do you have any workarounds?
Hi @tshewang
You'll have to set the flow steps on the send smart campaign based on the region or country to send it to at a certain time. On the schedule tab, send it to the earliest region; in the attached image, you can see the earliest is APAC.

Hope this helps,

Thank you,
Carla
Hi @Carla_Cabaceir1
Yes, it makes sense. So if I have three time zones, I'd have to add three Send Email flows with Wait Steps for each email in the drip campaign.
Thanks!
Hi everyone,
To start, we will have a simple quiz. I will be posting questions and best practices throughout the week. Please let me know which one is the correct answer.
Which program types would you use to create a new channel for lead nurture?
a. Default
b. Event
c. Engagement
d. Email
Answer: a. Default
@Carla_Cabaceir1
Lead nurture would be c. Engagement Program. Missed the nurture part 🙂
@Carla_Cabaceir1
That's correct @tshewang
c. Engagement Program
Here's a brief explanation of an Engagement program:
Engagement Programs nurture leads over time with a series of automated emails. They are perfect for drip campaigns, where content is sent at intervals to keep leads engaged.
Sample: A series of welcome emails sent to new subscribers over a period of weeks.
Program Structure:
Streams: Different stages or tracks of content (e.g., Welcome Series, Educational Content).
Smart Campaigns: Control the flow of leads through streams based on their behavior.
Emails: The content for each stream.
Reports: Engagement metrics to track lead progression and content effectiveness.
Note: You can also add a "Default program" as a nested program to an Engagement program.
Here are all the assets you can add/use in an Engagement program; some, like the Account Smart list, will appear or not depending on if you have purchased TAM.
Link for more details: Understanding Programs | Adobe Marketo Engage
Thanks @Carla_Cabaceir1. I didn't even know there was an Account Smart List because we don't have a TAM license.
In the certification exam, will they include questions related to features that only come with add-ons such as TAM?
Hi @tshewang, I don't think so. The question about programs will be more related to each program type and why/when it is adequate to use each one.
TY,
Carla
