IW-Custom.pngLet’s face it—webinars can be a little… well, bland. But not on your watch! With Adobe Marketo Engage’s Interactive Webinars the power is at your fingertips in Design Studio to change the obvious default look and feel to your brand. Whether you're hosting a product launch, a customer Q&A, or a thought leadership session, customizing your webinar experience is the best way to extend your brand.

Why Bother Customizing?

Because first impressions matter—and so do second, third, and fiftieth. Customizing your webinar room isn’t just about slapping on a logo and calling it a day. It’s about creating a seamless, on-brand experience that makes your audience feel like they’re in the right place (and not just another Zoom room).

Step Into Design Studio

To get started, head over to the Design Studio in Marketo Engage. Under the “Interactive Webinars” tab, you’ll find the “Customize Webinars” section. (Good to know… These setting apply to all of your events and all workspaces, so don’t get too granular if you have different sub-branding in each workspace.) This is your playground, and it’s divided into three main areas:

  1. Room Interface
  2. Intermediate Screens
  3. Virtual Video Backgrounds

Let’s break them down.

Room Interface: Your Webinar’s Living Room

This is where the action happens. You can upload your logo (50x31 pixels), set a clickable link for your logo (maybe your homepage or a cheeky landing page), and add alt text for accessibility. Want to match your brand colors? Go wild with HEX or RGB codes for the room bar, icons, and background.

You’ll also find templates—Default, Colorful, and Light. Think of them as your base style and then you can make changes and “Apply.”

Intermediate Screens: The Opening Act

IW-Default.pngThese are the screens your attendees see before the show starts, during sign-in, or after the curtain falls. Upload a 1920x1080 background image to set the tone—whether it’s sleek and professional or fun and funky. These screens are your chance to say, “Hey, we care about the details.”  Everyone will know that you haven’t customized if they see the default background! (It looks like band-aids to me.😉)

Virtual Backgrounds: Because Laundry Happens

Let’s be real—sometimes your home office isn’t camera-ready. Virtual backgrounds to the rescue! Choose from standard options or upload your own branded backdrop. Just aim for a 16:9 aspect ratio so your head doesn’t float awkwardly in space.  (Shhhh. Don’t tell anyone, but I sometimes just use the same image as the intermediate screens.)

Tips from the Pros (That’s You Now)

  • Use crisp, high-res images. Blurry logos are a no-go.
  • Test your layout on different screen sizes. Not everyone’s rocking a 27” monitor.
  • Preview your changes before going live. Trust us, it’s worth the extra click.
  • Clone your best-performing webinar programs to save time and keep things consistent.

Wrapping It Up

Customizing Interactive Webinars in Design Studio isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s a must-do for marketers who want to leave a lasting impression. With just a few tweaks, you can transform your webinars into polished, professional experiences that reflect your brand and engage your audience.

So go ahead—make it yours. Your attendees (and your future self) will thank you.
