Hello Everyone!

By now, most of you already know that we have launched the editor and its enablement to all Marketo customers (who have already migrated to IMS) from Feb 5th, 2025.

Here are the highlights you can find in Part 2 of the new designer blog series (in case you missed the first one - Check here)

  1. New features that we added
  2. Join the challenge to shape what's next

New features

Content Locking

Now you can lock specific sections in an email template. Now this supports just locking the full template but also specific sections of the email template. You can even partially lock the content too (eg: allow editing the content but not the structure)

Parameterized Fragments

Fragments are reusable content blocks that can be created centrally and inserted into your Emails and Email Templates.

Not only these are reusable content blocks, you can even parameterize the content inside fragments that can be edited inside an email where this fragment is being used.

Are you asking yourself - "How fragments are different from Snippets?"

Let me answer that: With the new email editor, we introduced parameterized/customizable fragments, replacing snippets for modular content management. Here’s how they compare:

Feature Snippets (current Editor) Fragments (New Editor)
Usage Used only in the current email editor Designed for the new email editor
Customization Static—cannot be edited within the email Fully customizable within each email
Content Limited to predefined content Supports flexible, modular content blocks
Dynamic Capabilities Can be used with dynamic content  Can be used with conditional content (coming soon)

Key Takeaway:

If you're using the new email editor, fragments provide greater flexibility, allowing you to edit content directly in an email while maintaining consistency across emails. Snippets are still available in the current editor but cannot be used in the new experience.

AEM Assets Integration

Activate your AEM Assets license inside your Marketo Engage instance and use images directly from AEM Assets while designing your Emails or Email Templates. These images always stay referenced and get updated automatically if the respective image is updated in AEM Assets.

@jlucas once we create an email within an email program, is it possible to duplicate and move it to another program? When we right-click, we are not offered a menu. I also cannot drag it to another program. When I try to clone the enter email program, I receive errors. Thanks!
>> We plan to launch the support for new editor in all program in first week for April. Then you should be able to Clone and Move local assets

@Sreekanth_Reddy thanks for confirming. I spoke with some colleagues and it seems like lots of our clients are currently sharing Snippets across Workspaces to ensure easier management and updates. So I'd say it's a pretty common practice and would be good if it could be replicated for Fragments.

Also, one other thing as a potential bug. When I was getting to know the editor the other day I noticed that one of the people that I used in the Simulate Content section in an instance was available to select (but actually couldn't be selected) in a different Marketo instance as well.

Hi @Sreekanth_Reddy, I have tried to add background image to columns section. But Image is expanding to width 100%. Could you please share the steps or small video to fix this?

@Sreekanth_Reddy - we're having issues adding emails created with the new editor to A/B Whole Email tests. Is this possible?

@Sreekanth_Reddy looks very good! For the link tracking: Will there be a possibility to automatically append utm parameters? For example https://www.example.com?utm_source=Marketo&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign={{program.name}}&utm_conten...}}

Great update!

If I did not miss anything, it seems that you have enabled in the backend that Outlook email client does render buttons with a border-radius correctly (and displays rounded corners on buttons), but that seems not to work for other elements (images, containers etc). It would be nice to have that in place for these as well.

Also, it would be nice to have an option to include custom fonts.

Hi,

I am trying to familiarise myself with the new email builder.

1. The conditional content button is missing. This is crucial for multi lingual countries. And also for address footers if there are mulltiple countries, etc.. How do I enable it?

2. Can you tell me more how to insert editable fields?

>> This is part of customizable fragments, I am planning to write a separate blog
