We've had a couple of situations where clients have imported files into lists with thousands, even millions, of blank records.
The CSV files looked fine, however, after import, it turns out there were blank rows in the CSV files, which Marketo imported as blank records.
On 1 occurance, we've seen this result in over 1.8 million blank records being imported into Marketo, causing degraded performance in Marketo whilst uploading that many records, as well as deleting all of the blank records.
With some other marketing automation platforms, it tells you how many records are going to be imported before you actually do the import. A similar feature for Marketo would allow users to know how many records they're importing before they import, giving them peace of mind.
It would also help prevent a situation like we've seen where thousands of blank records are imported resulting in degraded performance of Marketo and prevent time wasted cleaning
