Agree - this is very important for us. I imagine once we learn more about nurturing etc and develop our strategies further, we'll want to revise our nomenclature.
I might even go so far as to completely delete a list/campaign/whatever just so I can recreate it under a new name.
I *have* cloned and renamed lists/campaigns/etc so I could recreate them under a more reporting or management friendly nomenclature. It's also bad when several people are working in a system and not all of them are on board with a naming convention...
The first time i noticed i couldn't rename anything, i was sure it was a bug with our permission settings. Later i understood this is by design. We have 20+ users in marketo and EVERY day we waste a lot of time because we need to rename things. Smart Lists & Campaigns is causing the most problems. When you have a lot of campaigns and smart lists as we do, it's not easy to clone and then fix all relations in other lists and campaigns.
Seriously this needs to go to the top of the product managers backlogs. We don't need any new features when the basic doesn't work.
I don't usually find the right name until I've recreated a campaign three times. I'm stubborn enough to clone and clone again until I get the name right. Rename would be easier.
This is really important, guys. I'm not sure why this is in the "Maybe One Day" category instead of being actively worked on. Marketo users will not name campaigns or lists correctly or the way the want to the first time. Very often, with better understanding of how to manage Marketo, I find myself wanting to use a different naming convention. Also, there are always the typos in the names. Cloning and deleting the original list or campaign is suboptimal, especially since you lose all historical analytics on campaigns when you clone them. Please find the time to work on this!
