Provide Zip Files with Course Materials Rather than Individual Assets

Provide Zip Files with Course Materials Rather than Individual Assets

I'm in the process of downloading various assets for one of the learning paths and am wondering why all the assets are uploaded individually. It would be nice if you could download a zip file that contained all the course materials I'm currently downloading piecemeal.

This gives me an idea. It would also be great to be able to create a unique zip asset that dynamically pulls from an existing set of selected documents in my images an docs section of design studio. Use case: easy way to group mutple docs like case studies to justify resgitration. Then if I update one of those case studies via replace, I don't have to worry about m zip being out of date. Just a thought. (Pardon any typos, I blame Android 😉

You should post that as a new idea so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. (It's zip related, but quite a bit different than my suggestion.)

Osman,

You're totally right, but it was inspired by you: Dynamic Zipped Content Based on Existing Images/Documents

Cheers,

David

PS: If Marketo implements it, I owe you a beer :D.

You'll have to fly to Toronto then. (Quite a trip.)

Osman,

We have avoided *.zip files for the course assets due to fact that many of our students have trouble downloading *.zip files because of restrictions on their corporate networks.  Many times they are often blocked or a security tool with scan the archive file and corrupt the contents for the student.

With all of our virtual instructor-led courses we have consolidated the list of course assets onto a single course materials page (see screen shot below).

For the OnDemand playback courses, we are in the process of updating them and on our new Learning Portal (coming soon) they will be associated with the OnDemand titles as well.  Thank you for the feedback on this, however.

Thanks for the update, Alex! Perhaps the option to download a zip file or the individual assets would be best? That is, for those who aren't restricted from downloading zip files.

Thanks, again!

I agree Osman, the key here is not replacing the content with a zip, rather offering that as an alternative to pull down all the related content for those whe are free to to so.
