Let me enter formatted code blocks in Discussion posts

As a developer using Marketo's APIs, it drives me crazy that I can't post pre-formatted code blocks in Discussions.

Why can I put code blocks here in Idea posts,

but not in Discussion posts where I would
actually want to use code to describe an API problem?

Actually, I think the editor just needs some attention in general.

For some reason, I can paste monospace into the text box, but after that the text box starts acting unpredictably.  For instance, see one of my further-down posts here: https://community.marketo.com/marketodiscussiondetail?id=90650000000PuSRAA0

On one of the later posts, the last two paragraphs are monospace and I can't figure out any way to change them back to regular text.  It's very frustrating.
