Lead Owner Queue

Lead Owner Queue

I want a brand new field in Marketo named Lead Owner Queue that gives the name of the Lead Queue that owns the Salesforce lead. For Contacts and User owned leads this value would be blank.

Justification: we sync every lead to Salesforce. Most of our leads bubble up through a series of territory and status based Lead Queues. Our generic lead queue is called Marketing. It is very frustrating that I can't do an "If Lead Owner Queue is 'Marketing' Then..." In a lot of cases just doing "If Lead Owner Queue is not empty" would be incredibly useful too.

There is a related idea over here:

I believe my proposal is very focused and acheivable and avoids the contention discussed in the comments of that idea regarding reusing one of the existing lead owner fields for this purpose.

Or at least document the workaround for us.  I still haven't been able to figure it out.

Peter: you can create a workaround by doing this:
1) create a custom field in SFDC that sits on the lead object
2) in SFDC, create a trigger where if lead owner = queue, then that field is filled in with the queue name
3) the custom field will sync to Marketo, showing the value in the custom field
4) you must also have a trigger in SFDC where if lead owner is a user, not a queue, then custom field = blank.

This will enable you to select leads in Marketo based on the lead being owned by a queue (and can be used if you have multiple queues, because the SFDC trigger rules can be based on different queue names).

Good luck.

Hi, Emily's solution works. I did this at another firm (with help) and Marketo handled this well.

Just bumping this back up in the discussion. We're creating something per Emily's suggestion above, but we also like to push tasks over into SF onto the lead for various reasons. Since Marketo isn't reading the queue {we're relying on a workaround to read leads}, I'm receiving "failed to sync" warnings on these tasks.

We have SO many campaigns going on, people moving between campaigns due to lead scoring, etc. Tasks are the way I communicate where things have moved to our front line Rackers - who handle dozens of calls and chats on a daily basis and need to determine within split seconds to whom these leads need to be passed. Clarity is the key here for me - and they are trained to read my tasks...which are now broken with our switch to queues.

So - truly reading queues as a lead owner would be the most ideal situation for us, as I am sure many of the other Enterprise customers would agree.

Would prefer the Lead Queue simply populate the lead owner fields.  But if it has to be a separate field that would better than what is currently available.

Agreed.  I'd prefer not to create a workaround, I hope Marketo adds this to the roundmap, it seems like an easy thing to do.

SFDC views Queues as a user/person, why doesn't Marketo do the same?

We rely  on queues for lead assignment.  This is an essential part of Salesforce for our implementation.  Marketo should support queues!

Was this implemented?

Any updates on this?  This is large gap in the integration with Salesforce.
