Is it possible to add some kind of tags to the contacts?

Hey Marketo-team.

Is it possible to add some kind of tags to the contacts?
My challenge is, that I have to import contacts from a excel spreadsheet. And these contacts have different tags, which have been used for segmentation. And I obviously have to keep being able to segment on these tags.
I have made a Test List in Marketo, where I have used the Source field to add the specific tag. But some contacts have multiple tags and I am afraid, that it might end up confusing.
Is this the right way to do it, or is there a smarter way to do this?   
What do you guys suggest?

I typically use Member of List.  Imagine the list IS the tag.  Make a folder in the Lead Database called Lead Tags and put a bunch of lists in there.  Add people to multiple and use that in segmentation.

It could work. But what if one person appears in multiple lists. Does he then receive multible mail?
