If you use part of the content via variables, then it's not displayed in the text-only version of your email.
Example:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" style="width: 100%;">
<head>
<meta class="mktoString" id="ctaText" mktomodulescope="true" mktoname="CTA text" default="Learn more"/>
<meta class="mktoString" id="ctaLink" mktomodulescope="true" mktoname="CTA link" default="https://www.marketo.com/"/>
</head>
<body>
<table>
<tr>
<td class="mktoContainer" id="template-wrapper">
<table class="mktoModule" mktoname="CTA - Text" id="cta-text-module">
<tr>
<td>
<a href="${ctaLink}" target="_blank">${ctaText}</a>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
</body>
</html>
And your text-only version will be empty.
