Bi-Annual Marketo Email Benchmark Reports by Industry

The current Marketo Email Benchmark report is now a couple of years old and the results in the report don't seem to be specific enough for industries.

It would be great if Marketo could release an annual or even bi-annual email benchmark report by industry, so our reporting is more accurate.

I understand from this community article that for customer privacy reasons, Marketo does not store email statistics for email benchmarking purposes. But, how was the first benchmark report created? And if other services, such as MailChimp and Vision6 can release these useful reports, what's stopping Marketo?

I would much prefer to reference Marketo as the source of industry email benchmarks than a competitor.

Even better, if it were possible for industry benchmark results to be selected from within the Email Performance Reports in Analytics. I'd imagine it would be like dragging in an "Industry Benchmark" option under the Setup tab in Marketo Reports.

if not per industry, I would at least be interested in a benchmark on B&B technical emails

Yeah I really enjoyed using the benchmark tool for comparing our performance to my executive team.

As far as I know, this tool only pulls its data from those who complete the survey, rather than using live Marketo data. I also know this was a rather complex tool for Marketo to build, as I actually contacted the company they used to build it, as I was interested in doing a similar benchmarking survey within my industry. So it may be resource-prohibitive for them to update it each year. Just a guess though.

In any case, I'd like to see an update, and one that ideally incorporates live data rather than user submitted data.
